The President (btw, kudos to the regular broadcast network for refusing to give him unpaid prime time campaign time) went on cable t.v. and gave us his "five-point plan" to stabilizing Iraq. Highlights include maintaining 138,000 (almost all American) troops (and "if you need more, I'll send more"), demolishing Abu Ghraib Prison (which the President will some day learn to pronounce) after its replacement is built, and, of course, sovereignty transfer and eeee-lek--shuns next January.
This was, of course, a response to "He has no plan" for Iraq. Well, he still doesn't. At least none I could surmise. Good make-up, though. His handlers are learning: no "mission accomplished" banner behind him.
Freedom remains GWB's bee-yutch-- certainly so in today's info-mercial. (I'm told there is a series of five of these coming)... "Countdown to handover" read the CNN graphic tag. A handover that will involve exactly the same levels of US troops (and presumably casualties) after turnover as before. But we have "5-steps". A "plan", now. The President is used to multi-step plans (though usually there are twelve involved...)
Bush's approval rating is hovering at 41%-- which my guess is about as low as it can go (40% being the "he can knife-rape a nun on national t.v. and its cool, etc." crowd, i.e. the base). Well, it only gets better from here.
We won't talk about Chalabi, or Abu Ghraib, or anything else embarassing... Its a "Five-step plan" now-- kind of like the "road-map for peace"... just 5 steps-- sovereignty handover, security improvement, infrastructure building, more international support, a free election... the five steps...
I dunno. I only saw ONE STEP-- step one-- DENIAL.
