time last year, the smug news made
me stop for awhile.
Anyway, Haikus seem to be an appropriate compromise for the moment.
I think you KNOW how I feel about this one: (1) ANYTHING-- I mean ANYTHING to get Abu Ghraib off the front pages, (2) political cover-- if NO terrorist strike, see how good a job Bush's repressive measures have done, if there IS a terrorist strike, its because the TERRORISTS WANT YOU TO VOTE FOR KERRY, and/or (3) because there is, once again, some kind of real threat somewhere, but these A-holes are too incompetent to DO anything about it except broadcast one of their stupid panic-inducing alerts (except its NO LONGER panic inducing; its entirely "boy who cried wolf" now); see, I don't know whether I despise Ashcroft more because he is pure evil (he is-- unlike even Bush), or because he is pure incompetence (VERY like Bush). But to trot him out now shows "play to base, play to base" and little else.
According to Zogby polling as commissioned by the Wall Street JOurnal, in BATTLEGROUND STATES, Kerry is ahead in 11 or 12 out of 16-- including the 10 largest (that includes Ohio and Florida, which Bush won last time). The good news-- actually it would be GREAT NEWS because it would almost certainly mean the end of the anachronistic and unfair electoral college system-- is that RIGHT NOW, if these polls held, Bush would win the popular vote and KERRY WOULD WIN THE ELECTION. To me, that would be sweeter even than a Kerry landslide.

I am in a moral quandry.
My friend searches for http://detectives.any1in.us/kazakhstan.html kazakhstan on google to screen potential roommates.
He found any1in.us , but did not visit.
I, on the other hand, searched for http://cheating.any1in.us/cheating.html cheating and found any1in.us.
I went there and found that http://detectives.any1in.us/detective.html detective were easier to find than on google.
Should I tell him that his potential roommate is a http://cheating.any1in.us/dectective.html dectective ?
