The Talking Dog

January 2, 2006, We monitor our own comments... too...

Suggested in comments to the last post, Gary Farber has been on a tear on the issue of the recent revelations concerning the machinations of Our Government 's efforts to protect us from swarthy jihadist bogeymen (largely of its creation) with respect to its evidently iimproved technical abilities to monitor virtually every communication that can be monitored... this is just his latest installment.

Scary s*&^. And given the lethal combination of (1) a corrupt to the core ruling party in control of all branches of government; (2) a complicit press, (3) a moribund opposition party, (4) gerrymandered districts, (5) less than transparent voting machines and (6) an apathetic electorate... I'm not sure we can do much about it...

No, this is the latest installment. :-)

Some may seem a tad familiar.

Thanks muchly for the link. Appreciate it, pseudo-cuz.

I don't agree if you're implying there is no jihadist threat whatever, although I obviously agree that the Bush Admin approach has been insane, and a greater danger to us all, and so on and so forth. But I wouldn't want that to obscure that there is a significant threat, just because the Bushies are wacko, to put it in excessively simplistic and reductionist terms. But I'm sure you agree.

On point #2, the press has been progressively less complicit over the past year, all around. Better late than never.

#4 remains my nominee for Most-Underrated Problem Facing America, at least on even-numbered days. #5 at least gets attention on the left. #4, everyone sort of shrugs their shoulders and says "whaddyagonnado?"

I am the real Fletchman.

Fletchman speaks for his small(minded) pathetic world, of course. Next time maybe he'll hurt himself by trying to respond with his "intellectual abilit." Yeah, reich!
