September 27, 2008, Paul Newman passes away
Somehow, "legend" isn't enough of a superlative for Newman, who succumbed to cancer at age 83. Perhaps it can best be summarized as that he proved that a great man... can also be a good man.

It's probably b/c I thought he was a good guy who cared about people and b/c I saw him in person once when I was a kid and b/c I loved his work, but I'm having a foolishly hard time with Newman's death.
