Al Jazeera television broadcast what purports to be another videotape from our old buddy Osama bin Laden, with a cameo voice-over from his chief deputy terrorist, Ayman Al-Zawahiri.
They promise to make Iraq a graveyard of American troops, promising, ostensibly, that "we ain't seen nothing yet"-- i.e., the "real battle" has not yet begun. OBL's elocution does not include the phrase, "the mother of all..." (at least not yet).
I'm going to go out on a limb. While I have previously reported that a credible source conveyed to me that OBL is still alive in Pakistan's NWF Province, the source didn't tell me what kind of shape bin Laden is in. I don't know; the subtext of this message seems to mesh just a little too well with the President's speech on Sunday. Like the President's speech, in OBL's tape, Iraq and 9-11 are juxtaposed (with a bone thrown to Palestinian terrorists just for the hell of it). Its almost the kind of tape the Bush Administration would have wanted bin Laden to release, say, right before the 9-11 anniversary...
So this time, although I haven't seen it, just from reading the summaries, I have serious questions as to whether this tape is "authentic"; this is obviously some kind of propaganda tape, but its origins might not be with Al Qaeda.
I wish everyone well on this "Erev 9-11"; unlike last year, I intend blogging as usual on the day that 3000 families lost loved ones and the day that George W. Bush became a man.
