Its less than a day to go until the Iowa caucuses get going at 6:30 p.m. tomorrow. So Iowa blogger Dave Hogberg of Cornfield Comentary writes in with this triple play of great posts:

(1) Why is Kerry Surging? Dave opines that the reason is a combination of Kerry's new campaign style of warmth and approachability (to replace the cold technocratic style we loved so much in Mike Dukakis), and a sudden brilliance in his advertising (such as an emotionally charged commercial of a woman raising four children alone on a $28,000 income... I forgot her view on the tax cuts, as tears just welled up!)

(2) Why is Edwards Surging? Dave's take here is that the personal charisma factor comes into it: John Edwards just seem to be Tony Robbins with a senate seat-- the charm and persuasiveness that won Edwards a fortune as a personal injury lawyer just seem to wow voters. Also, Edwards is just so darned nice, or at least he's running his Iowa campaign that way. (To some extent, Edwards may be benefitting from having been counted out until now-- the other candidates have ignored him by and large).

(3) In Only 3%? Dave questions Glenn Reynolds' questioning of the polls regarding Dennis Kucinich and his likely 3% showing in the caucuses, noting that in Dave's view, based on the number of lawn signs he sees, and other exposure (including a t.v. commercial!) Dave feels that many Kucinich people want to hold back expressing their support, otherwise poor Kucinich may find himself mysteriously assassinated by the Bushes, the Tri-lateral Commission, etc. Reynolds seems incredulous about Kucinich, who is trying in Iowa, finishing ahead of Clark, who is not. All I can say is that some people really love Kucinich; this shouldn't be surprising at all-- as the Democratic nominee, I have no doubt that he would not allow Nader voters to cost him the election.

Well, many thanks to Dave, and the other Iowa bloggers, for helping with this project. We're still around 12 hours or so from going "wall to wall" (or at least, sort of wall to wall).

Excellent, let me know how it works. I'll add methods for retrieving the rest of your collection too (not just the currently reading and favorite books) as well, so that might be a better option than creating xml feeds for each of these things.
