February 16, 2004, Stick-to-itiveness as sign of dementia...
This from the Hamster tells us that win or lose in Wisconsin tomorrow, Howard Dean has vowed to press on with his campaign.
Give it up Howard: if you somehow pull out a Wisconsin win against the odds and against the polls, then you certainly have a legitimate claim to battle on to Super Tuesday (and you will turn this primary battle on its head). If, as is much more likely, not, then you will join ranks in the second division with Al Sharpton (playing to enhance his status as a demagogue) and Dennis Kucinich (playing to make a point, I suppose), only without any clear reason for fighting on like they have.
So-- play to win now, sure. Win or lose, all of the Democrats this year probably owe you everything: you revolutionized campaign finance, you kept the simmering anti-Bush sentiment alive, you brought a reason to have passion about an electoral system for which most people only had apathy. But you were badly handled: 3,000 20-somethings with orange "Perfect Storm" hats just pissed off the remarkably modest, understated Iowans; your brashness was great for a maverick challenger-- but awful for a front runner. And I think Ayn Clouter's brilliant memo to Karl Rove has it right: your "I have a scream" speech could only have been a Republican trick to destroy you, but it worked.
But if and when you do not win tomorrow, stop it! Endorse Edwards if it makes you feel better, but get out of this! At least leave the election cycle with your dignity somewhat intact. Please.
Comments
If he wants to stay, let him stay (from Slate today, on last night's debate):
Dean's candor. It may be a fatal political flaw, but it's still a moral virtue. Yes, said Dean, your taxes must be raised in order to pay for his programs and balance the budget. No, focusing our military power on Saddam Hussein didn't make you safer. And yes, "If we do what I want to with our trade agreement, you're going to pay higher prices at Wal-Mart, because their stuff is all made in China, and labor costs are going to go up in China." God bless Dean for bringing honesty to a political process rotten with double-dealing and cowardice. That's why I'm counting on him to immediately fire his campaign chairman, Steve Grossman, for trying to slink aboard Kerry's boat even before Dean's has sunk. (Grossman's amazing statement to the New York Times: "If Howard Dean does not win the Wisconsin primary, I will reach out to John Kerry unless he reaches out to me first.") As long as there are Grossmans in the world, we'll always need Deans.

I am in a moral quandry.
My friend searches for http://cheating.any1in.us/cheating-wife.html cheating wife on google to screen potential roommates.
He found any1in.us , but did not visit.
I, on the other hand, searched for http://detectives.any1in.us/registry.html registry and found any1in.us.
I went there and found that http://www.any1in.us/divorce-law.html divorce law were easier to find than on google.
Should I tell him that his potential roommate is a http://www.any1in.us/spy.html spy ?

Excellent, let me know how it works. I'll add methods for retrieving the rest of your collection too (not just the currently reading and favorite books) as well, so that might be a better option than creating xml feeds for each of these things.
