Care of everybody’s favorite blogging ventriloquist Joe Gandelman we give you this (apparently documented) story of a talking dog out of Russia.
Given that our own site features a talking dog (already), visits from a typing crab, frequent references to a simian president, and hosts an entire “dog run” of over 200 assorted other creatures (most of them classified as dog breeds), let’s just say… we don’t really need the competition.
Anyway, let’s wish Yula a hearty zdrastvityeh, or however you say “howdie” bi ruskya.
I’m not sure that’s the correct transliteration, but it’s more or less an accurate representation of the pronunciation. (I can say that due to two years of Russian language study in HS lo these many years ago).
bi ruskya?????
I think you mean po russkij
(roughly rhymes with “watusi”)
If I had a cyrillic keyboard, I believe I can do it a little closer to what its supposed to be. Michael is correct on the more accurate transliteration, though I have heard it pronounced much closer to the way I spelled it.
I’m also kind of guessing as to how a dog would pronounce Russian– based of course, on how I would.
Well, tomorrow’s another 42 km. day, so I’m downing some gatorade (in one gulp) and wishing you all a hearty vasa d’arovia (I know, I know).
Talking Dog will be on the radio show Subject To Discussion 11/17 on the site of http://www.lvrocks.com
We had one Joe from the Moderate Voice and Dave Pell from Electablog.
We look forward to having the Dog on to help us understand what went wrong with the 04 Election.
Shaun
I was speaking of the transliteration of “Hello,” to straighten up any confusion. 😉
I can’t believe I’m too late. Too late to affect the campaign. Too late to affect the election. Too late even to be mentioned as a feature of this site. Beaten by a crab!!!
For the loyal viewers of this site, you may recall that I was the driver for the President and that I disappeared shortly after revealing that Bruce Springstein was the Boss of the Republican Party, the man to whom Dick Cheney answers.
I was turned in by a reader of this site named WallyCox’sLiver. (The real Wally Cox is dead you know).
I was picked up while waiting at the airport, and flown to Guantenamo Base, where I was held without charges along with the other “terrorists” as defined by the classified Real Patriot Act (which supercedes the Patriot Act, except only 3 people know). Most of the other “terrorists” were the capable Democratic campaign managers and advisors.
As in the Iraqi detention centers, there was torture by the officials. There was also torture in the form of the endless arguments between the Democratic advisors on “what if” Howard Dean was the Democratic candidate.
I suffered and waited for any opportunity to escape. An opportunity came when I was able to make a rope out of the rubber gloves used by the officials in their torture sessions.
By the way, Lyndie England is considered a major babe there. Every day they do the “Lyndie Needledick Point”, which is easy to do at the Democratic advisors.
So I collected the grease from the local Cubans working there, and slid through the bars down to the ground. I found freedom in Cuba, of all places.
Eventually, I made my way back. Too late to do anything.
But you have to admire the sabotege job done by the Boss to Kerry. Pretending to support him, staking his “Liberal” reputation on the Kerry campaign, and yet causing voters to turn away from Kerry in the crucial swing states. Karl Rove can take lessons from the Boss.
Well, I doubt that anyone’s looking for me now. But I’ll sign off now, and maybe post later.
There was also torture in the form of the endless arguments between the Democratic advisors on “what if” Howard Dean was the Democratic candidate.
If you thought the Bush Administration and our military were evil before for what they subjected human beings too, this pretty much clinches it, Bernie. If I were you, man, I’d get over to the Hague and the Euro-Justice Court over in Stransbourg and start swearing out charges for crimes against humanity. There are some things that are too gruesome for any American to stand for, and it sounds like you have just been to hell and back. Godspeed, and try to buck up, man. I smell articles of impeachment…
(Lookit, bys and girls… it’s not like Messrs. Kerry and Edwards told us they had a problem with the torture or with depriving citizens and non-citizens alike of constitutional or international law rights, now is it? If they didn’t think it was important enough to mention, it’s almost– almost– as if we can excuse the American people for condoning them. Just part of what Democrats have to learn: we can risk losing by having the balls to call what is wrong and evil… wrong and evil, or we can GUARANTEE losing by pretending we don’t care… or worse, not actually caring…
Bernie, we all owe you a debt.
Good luck today, TD.
