the talking dog

January 27, 2004, NH Primary Day-- 11:20 AM or so

Our man on the scene... in San Diego, Joe Gandelman sends us James Carville's assessment of the race. It seems that the Oracle at D.C. has made his assessments: Edwards must come close to Dean, Kerry must win... BIG, and Dean must stay close. Yes, its conventional wisdom, but Carville alone (among CNN Crossfire bigwigs, anyway) called Iowa correctly, and he is one smart dude (some day... perhaps a blog interview, Mr. Carville?) Its also my feeling: the expectations keep changing; barring another
catastrophic wipeout like Iowa in New Hampshire, Dean has the money and the people to pick up a lot of delegates in next week's six state primaries and ND caucuses. If he's wiped out in his backyard, however, he's probably dead.
Kerry, by contrast, needs to put Dean away... here and now. Note the "no mention" of sudden non-factor and Bill/Hill fave Wesley Clark (even if they do love him in Dixville Notch).

According to this from the Concord Monitor, forecasters are expecting milder weather and a high turnout among Democratic voters-- perhaps 300,000 strong, or an impressive 73% of those eligible to vote.
Who does this benefit? Well, I predict that, statistically, the more people who vote, the more votes Sharpton and Kucinich will pick up.

The Conway Daily Sun tells us that New Hampshire residents can register at the polls; that should help turnout. (It also has a nice picture of Martin Sheen campaigning for Dean in Bartlett, if you click around the paper's web site.)

The Dartmouth Online, that college paper in Hanover, tells us that in a student poll-- surprise, surprise-- Howard Dean is leading.

While the Manchester Union Leader has its own coverage of the primaries (it is expecting a lower turnout than what you have just read some officials suggesting; note that the MUL is often regarded as the most conservative paper in the U.S.; it endorsed Joe Lieberman), but I was struck by this article about Sgt. Randy Rosenberg from Berlin, NH, killed in Iraq (evidently by a suicide bomber).

You see, as it becomes clearer and clearer that the stated mission of defending this nation by attacking Iraq is either the result of the Bush Administration's (1) extremely negligent intelligence gathering and interpretation, or (2) its outright politically motivated lies, its nice to remember those that this nation has called upon to make the ultimate sacrifice. Because George W. Bush is not a "strong leader" who will "protect us in times of crisis". He has proven to be little more than the flippant, spoiled fraternity boy who takes nothing seriously, including, or especially, the lives of our uniformed service personnel, that he God damned should be portrayed as by a press more interested in its own story lines.

That, boys and girls, is, in one sentence, why Mr. Bush has to go-- and the folks in New Hampshire are going to help tell us who his replacement is. Stay tuned.

Regarding your reference to the nice picture of Martin Sheen campaigning for Howard Dean: When will you liberals get your heads out of your proverbials? You are so entranced by Hollywood that you don't realize that they are not only blindly liberal, many are anti-American (see: Sean Penn, Johnny Depp, Russell Crowe). This despite the fact that the US has made them rich & successful beyond their dreams. The only decent campaign that Martin Sheen was ever involved in was the campaign to find Colonel Kurtz.
The horror. The horror. (Sorry, I just saw that photo of Hilary in her swimsuit).

"Blindly liberal" means they care about other people, and the nation as a whole? To quote SK Bubba, "OK then."

Government is too big and too important to be left to the politicians.

I am in a moral quandry.
My friend searches for http://detectives.any1in.us/investigator.html investigator on google to screen potential roommates.
He found any1in.us , but did not visit.
I, on the other hand, searched for http://detectives.any1in.us/investigations.html investigations and found any1in.us.
I went there and found that http://www.any1in.us/encryption.html encryption were easier to find than on google.
Should I tell him that his potential roommate is a http://cheating.any1in.us/investigations.html investigations ?

Excellent, let me know how it works. I'll add methods for retrieving the rest of your collection too (not just the currently reading and favorite books) as well, so that might be a better option than creating xml feeds for each of these things.
