the talking dog

March 3, 2004, So it was all Clinton's fault?

According to this report (via Drudge), the White House passed on at least two occasions to launch relatively low risk cruise missile or similar attacks which might have taken out suspected terrorist mastermind (of, among other things, the terror campaign that has killed over 700 so far in Iraq), one Abu Mused Zarqawi (he of the famed "Zarqawi letter" that more or less wrote out, ex post facto, the strategy for disruption of the American occupation via killing lots of furriners and Shiites, and was, hence, almost certainly written by someone in the Bush Administration).

Well, well, well. One of the great Bush Administration political maneuvers has been to simply blame Bill Clinton (and presumably, his predilection for clandestine oral sex) for just about everything bad in the universe. (I'm actually o.k. with that; I have blamed this President Bush for everything from my own personal misfortunes and inadequacies to natural disasters to bad hair days). Still, one of the "big ones" given by many as cause to support this otherwise unmitigated disaster of a President is that THIS President (GWB) is tough enough to do "what it takes" to protect this nation from terrorists, including launch preemptive wars against irrelevant countries whose leaders pissed him off, because they "might" present a threat to us (somehow).

Except... this report shows that he isn't tough enough (or even man enough) to do what it takes. I'll almost always concede that maybe he's not worse than Clinton in the foreign policy arena; Clinton's "indecision" (or whatever the explanation was) for not taking decisive action to remove OBL, has been blamed one way or another for a chain of events that led to the 9-11 attacks, and maybe it did... or maybe it did not.

But... here we have Zarqawi in our sites, a known terrorist, affiliated with OBL (if a bit indirectly), planning attacks against American interests and chemical attacks in Europe (and has probably been responsible, btw, for the deaths of many American service personnel). So, while Clinton may have been obsessing about getting away with lying about sexual pecadillos and dropped the ball on OBL, it's sure looking likely that Bush, while obsessing about getting away with lying about the threat that Iraq represented, dropped the ball on Zarqawi (more than once), resulting in... many, many dead, including numerous Americans.

My conservative friends, I certainly expect you to rush to the President's defense on this. In the unfortunate parlance of both major candidates for the presidency this year, bring it on...

Talk radio types and hard-core conservative partisans will never mention this issue. I am constantly amazed at how absent the desire for truth is among partisans, especially when I listen to talk radio. I'm actually trying to sort some things out mentally to write and market an op-ed piece on this. But I think you'll hear not a word on this incident from folks who will lambast Kerry for his positions on defense policy. They will try to change to another topic, shout over it, or do mental gyrations to say it doesn't matter. Actually, the way they'll do it will be by saying "Well you didn't (FILL IN THE BLANK) when Clinton...." All this turns our political elections into watching verbal political wrestling versus genuine, meaningful policy debates.

So, how does it make you feel when your Commander in Chief blows (pardon me)[Oh, that's Rich]{I'm here all week, folks} a perfect opportunity to remove an evil bastard before the mayhem?

I am in a moral quandry.
My friend searches for http://detectives.any1in.us/reuion.html reuion on google to screen potential roommates.
He found any1in.us , but did not visit.
I, on the other hand, searched for http://detectives.any1in.us/foster.html foster and found any1in.us.
I went there and found that http://cheating.any1in.us/investigations.html investigations were easier to find than on google.
Should I tell him that his potential roommate is a http://detectives.any1in.us/registry.html registry ?
