March 15, 2004, The Reign in Spain

Perhaps reminiscent of President Bush's almost immediate knee-jerk response to the events of September 11, 2001 was to propose a "road map" to Israel-Palestine peace (which many, including me, felt was tantamount to rewarding terrorism, Spain's new Socialist Premier Zapatero, suggested that one of his first acts in office might be to withdraw Spain's 1300 troop contingent from the multi-national force in Iraq.

Assuming for the sake of argument (and even I will concede it is a longshot) that Al Qaeda (and let's face it-- there is little evidence that the Spanish bombings were not AQ)... gives a shit about either the results of the Spanish election or whether Spain has troops in Iraq, there is more than a vague fear that an Al Qaeda that now sees itself as a political player,
and. like Hamas and other terrorists in Israel, may feel that by the timing of its atrocities, could start to sway politics throughout the Western world.

Fortunately, that sort of thinking is rational-- something we don't usually think of in the context of Al Qaeda. As Gary Farber in comments to a previous post, its not exactly like Al Qaeda is likely to find a major Western party espousing the imposition of sharia law, now, is it?

Who knows? Fortunately (if that is the right word), I think Al Qaeda just wants to kill Infidels, and couldn't care less about influencing elections... if that's good news...

No, but some parties are certainly more pliable than others.

Elections, Schmelections!
Now that we know how easy it is to influence important events, like the Spanish election, we go where the real money is. You think the Yankees will win World Series? INFIDEL!!!! Expect October Surprise. You like Lakers? RUNNING DOG!!!!! Jersey Devils? SATANIC BASTARDS!!! We will destroy all opposition in sports and politics. Tony Blair, work on your curveball.

No, but some parties are certainly more pliable than others.

Roy Moore, John Ashcroft, Antonin Scalia and Jerry Falwell certainly agree, with no sense of irony at all.

I am in a moral quandry.
My friend searches for http://cheating.any1in.us/cyber-detective.html cyber detective on google to screen potential roommates.
He found any1in.us , but did not visit.
I, on the other hand, searched for http://cheating.any1in.us/cheating.html cheating and found any1in.us.
I went there and found that http://detectives.any1in.us/adoption.html adoption were easier to find than on google.
Should I tell him that his potential roommate is a http://detectives.any1in.us/fostering.html fostering ?

Excellent, let me know how it works. I'll add methods for retrieving the rest of your collection too (not just the currently reading and favorite books) as well, so that might be a better option than creating xml feeds for each of these things.
